Responsible gambling
Gambling is entertainment. For most people it stays that way. If it stops being entertainment, there are practical steps you can take and organisations ready to help.

Gambling is not a way to make money
Casino games are designed to return less than they take in over time. The house edge ensures that, on average, players lose money the more they play. This does not mean every session ends in a loss — but it does mean gambling should be treated as a leisure expense, not an investment strategy or a way out of financial difficulty. If you are gambling to solve money problems, it is very likely to make them worse.
Tools available at UK-licensed operators
Every operator holding a UKGC licence is required to offer a set of player-protection tools. These include deposit limits (daily, weekly or monthly), loss limits, session time limits and cooling-off periods. You can set them in your account settings. Operators are also required to allow you to self-exclude directly with them — meaning your account is closed and you cannot reopen it during the exclusion period.
GamStop — self-exclusion across all UK sites at once
GamStop is a free self-exclusion service that lets you register once and restrict your access to all UK Gambling Commission-licensed operators simultaneously. You choose the exclusion period: 6 months, 1 year or 5 years. Once active, operators are required to prevent you from logging in or registering. It works alongside — not instead of — self-exclusion at individual operators. Register at gamstop.co.uk.
