How we rate operators
This page explains exactly what we look at, how we weight it and why we built the comparison around game studios.
Grades run A through D. An A means the operator scores well across most criteria with no significant gaps. A D would mean meaningful problems on multiple fronts. The operators currently listed all sit between A and C — none made the list if they had licensing issues or unresolved regulatory problems.
The eight criteria
Which studios supply games to the operator. We look at both the number of studios and their quality — a small number of well-regarded studios outscores a large count of obscure fillers. We pay particular attention to whether the operator carries Evolution Gaming for live tables, since that is the meaningful industry dividing line for live casino quality.
The range and quality of live-dealer games. Operators using Evolution have access to the broadest live table range; we note where others supplement or replace this with alternative live providers.
Whether the operator has a native app, how well the mobile browser experience functions, and whether the casino's core features are accessible on a small screen. We weight this significantly because most UK players use mobile.
An active, clean UKGC licence is a prerequisite for appearing on this site. Any operator with a current licence suspension or unresolved regulatory action is excluded. This criterion does not produce a score differential — it is a pass/fail gate.
Total number of titles available. Volume alone is not as important as studio quality, but a very thin library limits choice regardless of which studios supply it. We note particularly large or small libraries.
We record the type of welcome offer (matched deposit, free spins, no-wager free spins, etc.) without scoring on monetary value, which changes too frequently to be reliable. No-wager free spins receive a positive note because of the practical difference they represent.
Channels available (live chat, email, phone) and support hours. Live chat that is actually staffed 24/7 scores better than email-only support.
Navigation, page load speed, account management and the general experience of using the site or app. A technically functional but hard-to-navigate operator scores lower than one that has invested in a clean interface.
Independence and update cycle
No operator contributes to or reviews this methodology before publication. Grades are updated when an operator makes a material change to its product — a significant library expansion, a live casino upgrade, a change in app support, or a licensing event. The "last updated" date on the homepage reflects the most recent review cycle.
